We live in an earthquake-prone area and experience earthquakes frequently, some of which can be damaging.

  1. DURING AN EARTHQUAKE:
    1. Take cover under desk-table-or doorway, keep head and neck protected.
    2. Stay away from windows, shelving, or equipment which can present a cutting, curshing, hitting or fall danger.
    3. Stay where you are, Do Not Run Outside while quake is in progress, you may risk falling dangers.
    4. If outside, stay away from building if possible.
    5. Evacuate only after quake has ended, assist and be part of evacuation team.
    6. Do not use elevators and check stairwells for integrity before using.
  2. AFTER AN EARTHQUAKE - Possibility of Aftershocks
    1. Move to areas away from windows, toward the interior of building.
    2. Be prepared for aftershocks-Do Not Return to your work area until directed.
    3. Give first aid to the injured - take work area first aid kit with you when evacuation is necessary.
    4. Do not move victims unless necessary to prevent further injury.
    5. Notify management and emergency personnel of any thing which you believe needs to be brought to their immediate attention.
    6. Be prepared to evacuate and follow management and emergency personnel direction.

Understand that major earthquakes can disrupt normal emergency services and that you may be on your own for several hours and will need to become part of an in house emergency team.
