DOU110 Lab Is Now Open

6 Aug 2003:

The DOU110 Lab is now fully recovered from the water damage and the subsequent discovery of mold under the floor. All mold has been removed, and they say that the air is cleaner inside DOU110 than it is outside the building. They have also installed ventilation under the raised floor to reduce the humidity to prevent mold formation.

You will probably notice a slight smell of smoke from the smoky waters that collected underneath the raised floor. It would cost far too much to remove all traces of that smell; it is not harmful.

Thanks to UWT Campus Facilities for handling this matter superbly. Special thanks also to Cormac McGaughey for his prompt and efficient actions and foresight in securing the equipment and preparing for an extended closure, as well as his part in restoring the lab. I also am very appreciative of the lab assistants George Orriss and David Wyman, who helped to restore this lab in record time today.

There is one open problem with printing -- it isn't working yet. Everything else is functional, including the media rack.

Normal hours of operation for DOU110 are whenever the Dougan building is open. Please keep our newly-cleaned carpets clean by eating and drinking outside the lab.

Thank you for your patience during this ordeal.
