Planned Network Outage

WHO IS AFFECTED?

All off-campus to on-campus use of the network (access to servers) and all on-campus use of the wired network in the labs (workstations to servers).

WHAT WILL HAPPEN?

UW Technology has informed us of a planned network outage for a necessary router upgrade.

WHEN?

From Friday, 27 Feb 2009 at 10:00 pm to Saturday, 28 Feb 2009 at 5:00 am

It will likely be longer due to the dependence of our servers on a fully-functional, always-on network. cssgate/repos will likely fail to recover on its own (without manual intervention) due to the technology used, but it should be up by noon on Saturday.

WHY?

UW Technology controls the UW network. They feel it is imperative to make this router upgrade as soon as possible to preserve the reliability and security of the network.
