• Dell 410s and 420s now using Windows 2000 Professional

  The white Dell computers were upgraded to Windows 2000 Professional to ease the maintenance of the workstations and provide a consistent work environment.

• Java 2 SDK 1.4.01

  Java 2 SDK 1.4.01, a minor upgrade to the Java 2 SDK 1.4, has been installed. We hope it fixes a difference in executing a simple program compiled with Java 2 SDK 1.3 and 1.4.

• BlueJ 1.2.0

  BlueJ 1.2.0 has been installed -- it uses Java 2 SDK 1.4.01

• Internet Explorer 6.0

  This was installed primarily to fix the web-page printing problem in SCI106/108, which was due to IE 5.5 using a very long file name for the print job (thanks, Cormac!).

  You may also notice that the default web page is the Lab's news page, which was enabled via the Internet Explorer Administrator's Kit. We encourage you to read the news to keep informed of lab changes. To get to the Institute's web pages, click on the "Institute of Technology" graphic at the top of the page.

• Mozilla 1.0

  Since Netscape 7 isn't officially released yet, and using different and up-to-date browsers for checking web pages is helpful, Mozilla 1.0 was installed.
