In the instructions below, substitute your UW NetID wherever you see "uwnetid". Last updated: 28 Sep 2021 Logins and PasswordsBackgroundYou created a UW NetID after you registered for your first course at the UW. At that time, you also provided a password. You can use your UW NetID and that password, which we call the MyUW password to login to the MyUW web page. MyUW is your personal web portal to course, planning and other UW information. It is supported by UW Seattle. Faculty and staff at the School of Engineering and Technology and UW Tacoma Information Technology do not know and cannot change your MyUW password. Please read Changing or Resetting Your Password to see how you can do that. There are several computer login accounts and passwords that you may use while you are enrolled at UW Tacoma:
UW Tacoma Classrooms, Campus Labs, Kiosks and LibraryBasically, all computers at UW Tacoma that are not in School of Engineering and Technology Labs are managed by the UW Tacoma Information Technology department. They have a Windows domain called UWTACOMA — also known as tacoma.uw.edu — and they create another login account for you with the same name as your UW NetID. To login, enter your UW NetID in the login prompt: uwnetid Please ask someone at the Help Desk in WG 108 what your initial password is. When you login for the first time, you will need to change your password to something of your own choosing. UW Tacoma IT won't know that password, but they can reset it -- see UW Tacoma Network Login and the Students section for information on how to do this. School of Engineering and Technology LabsAll students enrolled in School of Engineering and Technology courses are provided with a key card that allows them access to the General Development Labs — DOU 110, SCI 106 and SCI 108. In addition, some students are provided access to one or more of the Teaching and Research Labs — CP 206C, CP 206D, CP 206H, CP 206I, SCI 113, TPS 202, and TPS 302. All such students are also provided a login to the Windows domain called INSTTECH, which is also known as insttech.washington.edu. Once inside an School of Engineering and Technology lab, students use: uwnetid@u.washington.edu as their login name, and their MyUW password. Please note that "uwnetid@uw.edu" will not work, for historical reasons. Please read How to Use Your Login Account and Password for more detail, including how to see your initial INSTTECH password for special access. netid.washington.eduWhile most UW computers across all campuses allow you to login to this domain using your UW NetID and MyUW password, you won't be able to see or use your H: drive (or "home directory") or other features, such as printers.
